And so in the words of a One Tree Hill addict, maybe this is appropriate.
I’ve come to learn there are two types of people who you will meet in your life: people who live, and those who are alive.
Most people fall into the category of people who live watch their lives pass by them. Moments that define them are not self inflicted, but rather perpetrated by big moments in the other half of the populations lives: the doers.
These people live. They are alive. They take action and make a thousand mistakes until they do something worth living for.
I’ve made thousands mistakes. They are what shape and define my life. And let me tell you, the mistakes you make are the best part about being alive.
Just remember, you’re not alive, unless you’re living.
In the words of the ‘Frizz herself “take chances, make mistakes, get messy”.
I sit here wishing my friends were where they should be, and my life wasn’t such an open book.

The easiest way to turn your life from complex and ineffective to effortless and successful? Simple. Think about it, literally. Thousands of people are already using their thoughts to steer themselves in a direction that will help them evolve into the people they in which they envision themselves. But does it work?
The concept is that our mental attitude admits into the mind thoughts, words and images conductive to growth, expansion and success. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.
Spokesperson for the power of positive thinking, actor Will Smith, gives motivation and inspiration by sharing some of the things that make him a faultless example of success – and more importantly, a leader in benefiting others, not just oneself.
“Believe whole heartedly, that our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, [and] our ideas, are physical in the universe. If we dream something and we commit ourselves to it that is a physical thrust towards realization that this is something that we can put into the universe,” explains Will Smith on Ellen. “The universe and the world are not things that are not going to push us around, and that we are going to bend the universe and command and demand that the universe become what we want it to be.”
Much like positive mental attitudes, negative attitudes are just as contagious.
“This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through thoughts and feelings transference, and through body language. People sense our aura and are affected by our thoughts, and vice versa,” says Ramez Sasson, in an article on the effects of positive thinking. “Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people and avoid negative ones?”
People are more disposed to help us if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone broadcasting negativity.
Negative thoughts, words and attitude bring up negative and unhappy moods and actions. When the mind is negative, poisons are released into the blood, which cause more unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure, frustration and disappointment.
If you’re a person whose first thoughts are negative, be encouraged by the knowledge that the first step toward a positive attitude and positive thinking is to simply think another thought. Thoughts are under your control. Your pessimistic way of thinking is habit; habits can be changed.
“When you catch yourself thinking a pessimistic thought about an event in your life, first evaluate the evidence. What are the facts—not the fears—but the facts?” advises Norman Vincent, in his book The Power of Positive Thinking. “Next, think of alternate explanations and future outcomes. When your old car suddenly makes a strange noise you may jump to the pessimistic conclusion that repair will be costly, but maybe a minor repair will solve the problem. Remind yourself to follow this approach with a daily affirmation such as this: When I have a negative thought I immediately evaluate the facts and think of positive alternatives that also fit the facts.”
A positive attitude is, therefore, the inclination to generally be in an optimistic, hopeful state of mind.
When it comes down to it, positive thinking can do a lot. Success can be driven by our thoughts. With a “If you want it, go get it,” mentality, it is believed that ultimately anything is within our reach.
While it cannot be scientifically proven, positive thinking can affect the human brain on absolutely every level. By thinking positively, you open up a vast spectrum of possibility and optimism, and a chance to allow yourself to become a more diversely accepting individual, that achieves entirely everything they set their mind to.
By simply shifting you’re frame of mind from pessimistic to optimistic, seeing the glass half full rather than half empty, we can see a drastic change in our perception of ourselves and the endless capabilities that we have.
